Super Easy Peach Cake (Cobbler)

There is a time and a place for super fancy desserts. And, as you may have noticed, I do not shy away from attempting complicated, multi-step, many ingredient delicacies. In fact, there is something very satisfying about creating something beautiful and delicious.

And there is also a time for easy. And fast.

Last night was one of those times.

Looking for a sweet treat, but not too long on time, I decided that we would try our hand at something I had only ever heard of, and whose name always sounds funny - a dump cake.

It is super easy.

Take 32 ounces of canned fruit. We chose peaches.

Pour them into a 9" x 13" pan, syrup and all.

I cut the peach pieces to make them bit size, but you don't have to.

On top of the peaches, sprinkle the full contents of one box of yellow cake mix.

Do not mix it. Just pile it right up on top of the fruit.

Then dot the top with butter. Lots of butter.

And finally, sprinkle brown sugar on top of the whole thing.

Then bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.

Then serve.

Then try not to pick at the rest of the contents of the pan all night...

I will say - this was SWEET. Like, WOW sweet. But addictive. And yummy. And little miss could do almost the whole thing and it was definitely fun for us to make.

The only thing missing was vanilla ice cream. Oh yes, I will make sure to have some in the house next time we make this!!

Super Easy Peach Cake/Cobbler
(sometimes called a Dump Cake, there are recipes all over, I based my version off of Bakerella's)

32 ounce jar (I had one 24 ounce jar and one 8 ounce can) sliced peaches in syrup
1 package yellow cake mix
1 stick butter, cut into pieces
1/2 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread canned peaches into a 9" x 12" baking dish (cut to bite-sized pieces if you want). Sprinkle cake mix over peaches, but do not mix. Dot the top with the butter, then sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
Can be served warm or cold.

Enjoy!
